How to Find Genuine Rest

Matthew 11:28-30 1 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

An Understanding Heart

Job 11:5-7 “But oh, that God would speak and open his lips to you, and that he would tell you the secrets of wisdom! For He is manifold in understanding. Know then that God exacts of you less than your guilt deserves.”

Love a Boundary?

Romans 12:9-13 “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;  not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.”

A Patient Life is Possible

Colossians 3:12-13 “So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other.”

Living Behind God’s Shield

II Samuel 22:31 “As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.” At times we all desire for God to be our shield. Sadly many of the students I see do not see the Lord as a refuge.

Reliance Upon the Holy Spirit (Part 3 of 4) The Holy Spirit plays a much more important role in our lives than I realized prior to wrestling with how Jesus led and what that meant for me as a parent. As I studied Jesus and how He handled issues in broken people’s lives it was […]

What Makes Great Faith-Based Parents? (pt 2)

Escaping Pressure and Expectations as Parents Great faith-based parents are able to Escape Pressure and Expectations. This may be counter to what we have heard or believe. We have been told that high expectations lead to higher achievement. Is this true when living under pressure and a list of expectations increases stress, decreases patience, and […]

Healing Our Hearts: From Hurt to Healing to Health (pt 5)

Prior to my journey of heart healing I had intellectually forgiven the sources of the stuffed issues and pain within me.  Yet without having turned and dealt with the harm within, it was not a full forgiveness. As the negative beliefs I had adopted came to the forefront and the sources of those beliefs were identified, […]

Healing Our Heart: Healing Only Comes When the Heart is Opened (pt 4)

Given that our culture is not a culture of grieving it seems only natural that we would learn to stuff our feelings only to reach a point where our hearts shut down because of unresolved issues with our parents, others or things outside our control which lead to the amount of pain we carry inside.

Healing of the Heart (pt 1)

Healing within makes a huge difference in relationships within a family.  Disappointments and wounds of the past cause fear, distrust or anger.  When those things trigger something within us, we often assess the full weight of the uncomfortable or angry feelings to something our kid or spouse said or did. Had those sensitive spots or […]
